A Porcelain Paper Clay workshop took place at the Barn on 6th November run by Jess Skelton, a ceramics artist who works in the studio next to ours.
There were eight of us and Jess taught us how to cast natural objects in slip which created some beautiful results from objects such as leaves, poppy seeds and bark. We then tried slab building using textures for imprinting and colour addition using oxides and stains which produced fascinating unpredictable colours.

In the afternoon we started making pinch pots although we also talked about how this should really be called a hand moulded pot as pinch pot doesn’t really do the process or the result justice. It’s quite a difficult and delicate process but some great pots were eventually achieved!
It was a most enjoyable and productive day.
