We are delighted that printmaker Lisa Takahashi is to return to our studio on 17th May to introduce us to collagraphy and card printing.  Lisa Takahashi is a practising artist, and has exhibited her prints extensively, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Lisa is a previous semi-finalist of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year and a judge/mentor in Watercolour Challenge on Channel 5.

Card printing is the simplest form of collagraph printmaking.  It involves cutting into thick card with a scalpel to create your image, and tearing the front layer of the card away to create furry textures that look beautiful when inked up and printed.  Alongside the card printing technique, you will be encouraged to try monoprinting using paper stencils. This technique is a fast and effective way to add colour to a print. If you have experience of linocut you will be amazed at the speed of card printing and monotype. You will learn a fun and unpredictable new way of making images that may help to inspire new ideas in other media.
