Sculptor Amy Goodman ran a 2 day workshop at The Barn on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th October from 10am until 4pm each day.  We had a male life model on the first morning from whom to make sketches for two hours as a starting point for a full figure sculptural piece using plaster on an armature.  Amy spent some time on the armature, helping us to get this right before progressing to plaster.  She also concentrated on giving us lots of help and ideas for creating different textural and painted finishes on the plaster.  There were 10 places on the course at a very reasonable £50 per person which included use of materials, tools and the life model.

If you are unfamiliar with Amy’s work, look at her website www.amygoodman.co.uk to see her wonderful sculptures and paintings.  You can see by her welded wire sculptures, which are like 3 dimensional drawings, how expert she is at using wire.  It was a very exciting and productive workshop.
