This was a 2 day workshop run by Jess Skelton (Integrated Arts Psychotherapist MA UKCP) that ran on the 13th and 27th November, 10am – 4pm.

This two day introductory workshop gave participants the experience of coil building, Kurinuki (the Japanese art of carving from a block of clay to make a tea bowl or other small vessel) and they learned to make a pinch pot. There was a chance to experience the 3 techniques in a kind of ’sketch form’ in the morning after which they then spent the afternoon working on a piece using the technique of their own choice (or possibly a combination). Participants then returned a couple of weeks later when the pieces had received their first firing, for a glazing day. Simple glazing and decoration techniques were demonstrated with participants able to take their pick or come up with their own combination to complete their piece. The pieces were available to pick up from the studio after their second firing.

Jess is our neighbour at Wessex Sculptors and the workshop was held at her studio.
