Mary Norowzian

Mary’s sculptures explore emotion and gesture in abstract organic form. Mary carves in a variety of stones as well as working with more experimental materials such as ‘maches’ made from watercress and beech leaves. Her most recent work is a series of abstract stones carved from local chalk with apertures gilded in copper leaf. These reference ‘hagstones’,  pebbles with holes through them found on the ground and on beaches which have associations with healing and protection. Mary has recently completed a Diploma and Art and Contemporary Craft at West Dean College.
