In February 2009, John Souter ran a two day workshop at the studio, modelling a portrait head in clay.  Wessex Sculptor member David Knight volunteered to sit as our model.  This is a workshop we never tire of – always challenging, especially to get a likeness, and always enjoyable.  Clay is a lovely material to work in.  Most of us went on to make a plaster mold of the clay head and make a cast using ciment fondu.  Ciment fondu is a very fine cement commonly used in sculpture making.
